1. Download the SmartCoin app from Google Play Store 2. Register through your Google account and provide basic profile details 3. Based on your details, we will calculate the best possible loan offers for you 4. Choose among the available loan products for required amount and tenure, and apply 5. After you apply, take photographs of the following documents from your smartphone and upload on the app: a) ID Proof - Aadhaar card (Front and Back) OR your PAN card b) Current address proof - Aadhaar card (Front and Back) OR Utility bills like gas, electricity etc. Please make sure your address and LPG ID or consumer number is clearly visible c) Selfie photo d) Bank cheque leaf OR IFSC code for your bank branch. 6. Once all your KYC documents have been verified, we verify your bank details by depositing Re. 1 into the provided bank account. If the bank account is not owned by you or the Re. 1 transfer fails, the bank details will get rejected and you will be asked to provide a different bank account. 7. For registration, add only a few simple details to calculate the best loan offers! You will need the following information: 1. Full Name 2. Active Phone Number 3. Date of Birth and Gender 4. Current Residential Address and Pincode 5. Employment Status 6. Monthly Income 7. PAN Card number
This may happen due to multiple reasons. Before trying to send OTP again, please check for the following: Have you entered the correct active number? If you have accidentally entered an inactive or wrong phone number, you can use the “Change Number” button to update the number and Resend OTP. Is your active SIM card being used in another phone? If yes, please check the messages folder to find the OTP sent by SmartCoin. If none of the above are applicable, there may be a problem due to your network carrier or our SMS sender not connecting to the network. Because of this, you may not receive an OTP instantly. In such cases, we request you to wait for some time and try to send OTP again to your mobile number. You can also click the “GET OTP ON CALL” button to get an IVR call with your OTP.
As soon as you complete registration, we will analyse your profile and unlock the best loans possible. If we can open loans for you immediately, we will show the highest loan offer in the My Loans section of the app. In some cases, you may also be required to upload your Bank Statement for the last 3 months in .pdf format. We will show a message to you to upload your bank statement, and open loan offers as soon as the upload is verified and successful. In other cases, we may not have gotten enough financial data to open loans for you and will not be able to offer loans immediately. We apologise if this is the problem and request you to check for loan offers at a later time!
You can change your details by going to “My Profile” from the main menu of the app. You can click the “Edit” button at the bottom right of the page and choose to edit any of the details you need to (Personal Details or Work Details or KYC Documents). If you change your phone number, make sure that you verify the number with OTP, if shown notification on Home Page.

Click on the round edit button in bottom right of the screen 6. If you apply for a loan and have not uploaded KYC documents, you will get a notification on the Current Loan page to upload images, OR else you can go to “My Profile” from the main menu and click on the “Edit KYC Documents” button at bottom right of the page to upload documents even without loan application. Click on the “Upload Photo” or “Take Photo” button in the upload form. This will open your phone camera. Take a picture of the document using your phone camera. Please make sure that the picture is taken under proper light conditions and all the mentioned details like name or full address are visible clearly in the photo. Unreadable or blurred pictures will not be approved, and delay the process for you. Also, please don’t use flash while clicking photos.
You can provide any of the following documents as a valid address proof: 1. Aadhaar card OR 2. Utility bill - electric / landline phone / gas bill - not more than 2 months old. Please make sure your address and LPG ID or consumer number is clearly visible
Click on the “Upload Photo” or “Take Photo” button in the upload form. This will open your phone camera. Take a selfie picture of yourself using your front phone camera. Do not wear any goggles or scarf or any other headgear. Make sure that the picture is taken under proper light conditions. Please don’t use flash while clicking photos. Blurred pictures will not be approved.
KYC document photos are manually verified by our team and it usually takes a few hours to approve all documents. Make sure that you upload the correct documents and with proper details for a faster approval process. If document images are blurry or have flash or do not show all details clearly, we will request you to re-upload documents and this will delay the time taken to approve KYC. If you upload Aadhaar card (Front and Back) photos, also make sure to scan the Aadhar QR code for fast approval process. You can click on the “Scan QR Code” button on the “Current Loan” page (available after applying for loan) to do the same.
No, KYC documents cannot be send over email. Please complete the KYC process from within the SmartCoin app.
Your eligibility and limits are decided by your lender. SmartCoin provides a score to the lender which the lender may use to judge the eligibility of your loan application. SmartCoin Score is an internal measure of a borrower’s credibility and his/her likelihood of paying back the loan amounts in time. The score takes into account various information about the borrower such as financial profile, social networks and behaviour data. The score is dynamic and keeps evolving as we obtain greater data on the user. Therefore, good behaviour and timely loan repayments will help a user to increase his score and get better loan terms over time.

The loan limits are automatically generated based on your SmartCoin Score, which might not be sufficient for a higher limit at this point. However, as you take more loans and repay on time, your SmartCoin Score could improve and we would be able to provide higher loan amounts and lower loan fees over time.
The fees charged from the borrowers is the sum total of processing fees and interest charges. The borrowers are informed about the exact charges at the time of applying for the loan. Processing fees would vary depending on the loan amount and borrower’s SmartCoin Score. Processing charges will go down as you keep using SmartCoin and build a good score. The applicable interest rate is 36.0% per annum (or 3.0% per month), and will be calculated as = Loan amount x Loan Term x Interest Rate
At SmartCoin, we spend a lot of time and effort reviewing loan applications for our lenders, processing documents and helping the lenders with collections. For this, we charge a small percentage of the loan as Platform Service Charge. The lender charges these fees at the time of disbursal, ie, your loan amount is sent, after subtracting the fees. These fees vary depending on the loan amount and reduce over time, as you keep using SmartCoin’s services.
For a first time borrower, the approval process has more steps, as we need the following to be completed: 1. KYC documents and bank details should be all Approved 2. Additional details like Workplace address, Pincode, Designation are required to be filled. Please make sure all details are present. 3. For bank account verification a test deposit of Re. 1 is done into your account. If this fails, we will request you to change some bank account details. We can only provide full loan if all the above conditions are met successfully. After loan approval for first time borrower, the money will reach his/her bank account within 6 hours of successful approval. For a repeat customer, the process is very fast and money will reach his bank account in less than an hour.
We request you to wait for a few hours and check the disbursal status again. It can take upto 5-6 hours for the loan amount to show in your bank account. Please note that, for newly added bank accounts, we need to verify the account by depositing Re. 1 into the account to check a valid transaction and ownership of the account. If any of the above fails, we request you to provide either your cheque leaf photo or new bank account details, depending on the reason.
Your application may have been rejected because you did not have sufficient SmartCoin Score or the personal / work information provided might be contradictory or if your profile did not meet the lender's loan application criteria. This in no way states/certifies your credibility and may purely be a function of our algorithms/criteria. We would encourage you to re-apply after sometime (at least a month) as we might have gathered sufficient data for a better SmartCoin Score to get your application approved.
There is no Cancel option available currently. You can choose to not accept the loan agreement, in which case the loan will be cancelled in a few days. Please contact the customer support at help@smartcoin.co.in for further help.
If you are a first time user, please wait for loan offers to open and apply for the most suitable loan amount and terms according to your needs. Users who have taken loans before with SmartCoin, can apply for a new loan only when no other loans are active, ie, there is no pending payment from your side.

SmartCoin reserves the full right to recall loans disbursed to any borrower, in case it finds out that the customer has hidden any material information or provided a fraudulent document. In such a case, the borrower needs to repay the full amount due within 24 hours of notice served.
You can use any of the following modes to make your loan repayment: 1. Bank Transfer - You can do a NEFT/IMPS/RTGS transfer through your net banking or by visiting your bank branch. After the transfer, open the payment form in the app and add the payment reference number or the UTR number of the transaction. 2. UPI (Unified Payments Interface) - You can do a UPI transfer through any UPI-enabled apps e.g. Google Pay, PhonePe, PayTM etc. 3. Debit Card 4. Netbanking 5. Wallet You would receive reminders and notifications before the due date. You could also make a payment before the due date without any prepayment penalties.
Yes, you can make payment before the due date, but an early loan payment will not reduce your existing loan fees. However, early payment is regarded as good behaviour, and could help you get higher loan amounts and better loan terms over time. As a reward for early payment, you will also be able to earn coins on SmartCoin. You can use the earned coins for discounts on future loan fees!
If you use UPI, Debit card or Netbanking or Wallet payment (like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, Mobiqwik etc) to transfer money, the loan amount will be settled immediately. Please call customer support in case of problem with above payment methods. If you have done a NEFT/IMPS/RTGS transfer, we need to verify the payment ID and settle it. This process usually takes a few hours and after that, we update the payment status on the app. If there is any other failure, your amount will be refunded.
We will check the payment transaction, according to the details provided by you. If you do not have a running loan or you made CASH payment, the amount will be completely refunded back to your account within 7 working days. If you have a running loan, the extra amount will be adjusted against the loan.
Any delays in the payments will incur penalties and could also deteriorate a borrower’s SmartCoin and CIBIL Score. The penalty is charged at 12% per annum in addition to the interest. So, the total penalty will be calculated as = Original amount to be paid + Additional Interest for the number of days delayed + Loan amount x (Number of days delayed / 365) x 12%.
In the unfortunate event where a customer defaults, SmartCoin will need to report the defaulter’s data to credit bureaus. This could make it difficult to secure future loans from banks/NBFCs at good terms. SmartCoin also reserves the right for making public the defaulter status on the website of the lender and/or SmartCoin as per SmartCoin Terms & Conditions. SmartCoin would adopt legal procedures to recover its amount with arrears and subsequent costs from the defaulter.
Once you raise the request for NOC with our team, please wait for 7-10 days to receive NOC in your e-mail address (the one registered with SmartCoin)
We regularly submit all our users' repayment data to CIBIL and other credit bureaus. Please note that there might be delays from these credit bureaus in changing your CIBIL score and we cannot do anything about it at SmartCoin. We request you to be patient and check your CIBIL score after some time.
Coins are rewarded to users who complete different tasks on the app. You can use the earned coins to get discounts on future loan fees! We continuously add more and more ways for every user on SmartCoin to earn coins and also get discounts on loan application fees. The “My Coins” section shows the total balance of coins you have collected. Click the “EARN” button to find ways to earn more coins!
The tasks opened to earn coins changes according to different types of users and may include one or more from below mentioned tasks. However, please note, there may be some few cases where no tasks have been opened for you to earn coins. Please be patient, take loans and wait for new tasks to unlock! Examples of some tasks: 1. Repay loan before due date. 2. Share SmartCoin with your friends and family. Earn coins as people you referred use SmartCoin.
You can use coins to get discounts on future loan fees. Complete more tasks to earn more coins and get higher discounts on processing fees!
“My Khata” allows you to keep track of money taken and given to friends/family or for business expenses. You can add phone number contacts against a Personal or Business Khata book and maintain ledger of amount of money taken and given to each of the contacts. You can also set a timer for reminder SMS to be sent to your contact to collect payment.
